11 Ways to Show Thanksgiving to GOD

One of the great commandments is to give thanksgiving to God, for all He has done for us. In Psalms 100:4 we are taught to, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Christ, himself, was the perfect example of obeying this commandment. Here is a list of 11 ways in which we can show thanksgiving to God.

1. Remember Him

The first way to show true thanksgiving to God is to always remember Him. Remembering Him means that He is a part of our thoughts, words, and deeds. It is impossible to give gratitude to God if we never think or speak of Him. When we remember Him we are choosing to think, speak, and act as He would have us do. We can also memorize scriptures and quotes on gratitude to help us remember to give thankgiving to God.

2. Recognize His Hand

To give thanksgiving unto God we must recognize His hand in our lives. What blessings has he given to you? A great idea is to get out a piece of paper (or open a new document) and number your blessings one by one. As you count your blessings be specific. Name individual family members and friends. Think of your life, health, home, city, and country. Ask yourself what, exactly, about your home or country is a blessing? How about your skills, talents, education, and job? Think about those times that seemed like a coincidence, did you overlook God's hand in your life? Did you think of God's greatest gift, His Son, Jesus Christ? You will be amazed at how many blessings you truly have. Now you can show thanksgiving to God for them.

3. Give Thanksgiving in Prayer

One way of showing our thanksgiving to God is through prayer. Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said it most eloquently:
"Prayer is an essential part of conveying appreciation to our Heavenly Father. He awaits our expressions of gratefulness each morning and night in sincere, simple prayer from our hearts for our many blessings, gifts, and talents.

"Through expression of prayerful gratitude and thanksgiving, we show our dependence upon a higher source of wisdom and knowledge.... We are taught to 'live in thanksgiving daily.' (Alma 34:38) ("Gratitude for the Goodness of God," Ensign, May 1992, 63).
Even if you've never prayed before, you can learn how to pray. All are invited to give thanksgiving to God in prayer.

4. Keep a Gratitude Journal

An excellent way to show thanksgiving to God is by keeping a gratitude journal. A gratitude journal is more than just a list of your blessings, but a way to record what God has done for you on a daily basis. In General Conference Henry B. Eyring talked about keeping just such a record:
"As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done." ("O Remember, Remember," Ensign, Nov 2007, 66–69).
I have been keeping my own gratitude journal. It has been a wonderful blessing and has helped me to show thanksgiving to God!

5. Repent of Sins

Repentance alone is an amazing blessing for which we should give thanksgiving to God, yet it is one of the most powerful ways in which we can show unto Him our gratitude. Elder Hales also taught this principle:
"Gratitude is also the foundation upon which repentance is built.

"The Atonement brought mercy through repentance to balance justice.... Repentance is essential to salvation. We are mortal—we are not perfect—we will make mistakes. When we make mistakes and do not repent, we suffer."
Not only does repentance cleanse us of our sins but it makes us worthy to receive additional blessings, which the Lord is eager to bestow upon us. Following the steps of repentance truly is a simple, yet powerful, way to give thanksgiving to God.

6. Obey His Commandments

Our Heavenly Father gave us everything we have. He gave us our lives, to live here on earth, and the only thing he asks of us is to obey his commandments. King Benjamin, from The Book of Mormon, spoke to his people about our need to keep God's commandments:
"I say unto you that if ye should serve him who has created you from the beginning...if ye should serve him with all your whole souls yet ye would be unprofitable servants.

"And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you" (Mosiah 2:21-22).

7. Serve Others

I believe that one of the most profound ways in which we can truly give thanksgiving to God is through serving him by serving others. He told us that, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" (Matt 25:40). Thus, we know that to give thanksgiving to God we can serve Him, and to serve Him all we need to do is serve others. It's so simple. All it takes is a little planning and personal sacrifice and even then many opportunities to serve our fellowmen will arise when the Lord knows we are willing and seeking to serve each other.

8. Express Gratitude to Others

When others help or serve us they, in turn, are serving God. In a way, when we express our gratitude to those who serve us we are truly showing thanksgiving to God. We can easily acknowledge the service of others by saying "thank you", sending a card or quick email, or with just a nod of the head, a smile, or a wave of the hand. It doesn't take much effort to say thank you and the more we do the easier it will be.

9. Have an Attitude of Gratitude

The Lord created us to be happy. In the Book of Mormon there is a scripture that clearly states this: "Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). When we choose to have a positive attitude and to live our lives in joy we are showing our thanksgiving to God. We are showing to Him that we are grateful for our very life which he's given to us. When we are negative we are not.
"If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues" (Thomas S. Monson, "An Attitude of Gratitude," Ensign, May 1992, 54).
We can choose to have an attitude of gratitude, just as we can choose to have a bad attitude. Which do you think God would have us choose?

10. Choose to be Humble

Humility begets gratitude while pride begets ingratitude. In the parable of the pharisee and the publican (Luke 18:9-14) Jesus Christ taught what happens to those who are lifted up in pride and those who are humble. He said, "For every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted" (Luke 18:14). In the face of adversity we must make a choice. We can react to our afflictions by becoming humble and thankful, or we can become angry and bitter. As we choose to be humble we are showing thanksgiving to God. We are showing to Him that we have faith in Him, that we trust Him. We may not know God's plan for us, but as we humble ourselves, especially in adversity, we are submitting ourselves to His will.

11. Make a New Goal

An excellent way to show thanksgiving to God is by making and keeping a new goal. It can either be a goal to stop a bad habit or a goal to create a new good one. The Lord doesn't expect us to change instantly, but he does expect us to work toward change. The only way to truly change ourselves for the better is to make and keep goals. There are many excellent goal tracking tools and ideas available on the Internet, so you should be able to find one that will work for you. Remember, when making a new goal you are in fact making a decision to do (or not do) something and as Yoda said to Luke Skywalker, "Do or do not. There is no try" ("Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"). You can do it. Believe in yourself, because God believes in you!

Sex education: Talking to toddlers and preschoolers about sex

Sex education often begins with a child's curiosity about his or her body. Here's how to set the stage for sex education — and how to answer your child's questions.

By Mayo Clinic staff

Sex education is a topic many parents would prefer to avoid. And if you have a young child, you might think you're off the hook — at least for a while. But that's not necessarily true. Sex education can begin anytime. Let your child set the pace with his or her questions.

Early exploration

As children learn to walk and talk, they also begin to learn about their bodies. Open the door to sex education by teaching your child the proper names for his or her sex organs, perhaps during bath time. If your child points to a body part, simply tell him or her what it is. This is also a good time to talk about which parts of the body are private.
When your child asks questions about his or her body — or yours — don't giggle, laugh or get embarrassed. Take the questions at face value. Offer direct, age-appropriate responses. If your child wants to know more, he or she will ask.

Expect self-stimulation

Many toddlers express their natural sexual curiosity through self-stimulation. Boys may pull at their penises, and girls may rub their external genitalia. Teach your child that masturbation is a normal — but private — activity. If your child starts masturbating in public, try to distract him or her. If that fails, take your child aside for a reminder about the importance of privacy.
Sometimes, frequent masturbation can indicate a problem in a child's life. Perhaps he or she feels anxious or isn't receiving enough attention at home. It can even be a sign of sexual abuse. Teach your child that no one is allowed to touch the private parts of his or her body without permission. If you're concerned about your child's behavior, consult his or her doctor.

Curiosity about others

By age 3 or 4, children often realize that boys and girls have different genitals. As natural curiosity kicks in, you may find your child playing "doctor" or examining another child's sex organs. Such exploration is far removed from adult sexual activity, and it's harmless when only young children are involved. As a family matter, however, you may want to set limits on such exploration.

Everyday moments are key

Sex education isn't a single tell-all discussion. Instead, take advantage of everyday opportunities to discuss sex. If there's a pregnancy in the family, for example, tell your child that babies grow in a special place inside the mother. If your child wants more details on how the baby got there or how the baby will be born, offer them.
Consider these examples:
  • How do babies get inside a mommy's tummy? You might say, "A mom and a dad make a baby by holding each other in a special way."
  • How are babies born? For some kids, it might be enough to say, "Doctors and nurses help babies who are ready to be born." If your child wants more details, you might say, "Usually a mom pushes the baby out of her vagina."
  • Why doesn't everyone have a penis? Try a simple explanation, such as, "Boys and girls bodies are made differently."
  • Why do you have hair down there? Simplicity often works here, too. You might say, "Our bodies change as we get older." If your child wants more details, add, "Boys grow hair near their penises, and girls grow hair near their vaginas."
As your child matures and asks more detailed questions, you can provide more detailed responses. Answer specific questions using correct terminology. Even if you're uncomfortable, forge ahead. Remember, you're setting the stage for open, honest discussions in the years to come.

Eyes

I gaze into twin pools of warmth
Bright and sparkling
I see something indescribable
Something I can't quite put my finger on.

Twin pool, blazing and brilliant
Making all your sweetness
And all your compassion
Crystal clear.

Twin pools shimmering and glimmering
Showing how you're
Sweet, sensitive, caring and kind
Funny athletic cunning and friendly

Twin pools, so animated and intense
Help me to share
Your love of life,
Your life of love.

I gaze into twin pools of warmth and
I see the sweetest person I've ever met or ever will meet
I recognize a sincere and honest guy who can never be replaced
I realize you are so special because
When I look into your eyes
I witness a miracle, I find a friend.

because you loved me :)

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right

For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful, baby

You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through
Through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'cause you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me, ooh, baby

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach

You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love, I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me

Maybe, I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because
I was loved by you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'cause you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You were always there for me, the tender wind that carried me
The light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'cause you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'cause you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
This is a real story of a young college girl who passed away last month
In (LEYTE) Philippines . Her name was gloria. She was hit by a truck.

She was working in a call center. She had a boy friend named jonathan.
Both of them are true lovers. They always used to talk on the phone.
You can never see her without her cell phone. In fact she also changed her SIM card from Smart to Globe, so both of them can be on the same network, and save on the cost.

She used spends half of the day talking with jonathan. gloria 's family knew about their relationship. jonathan
is still very close with gloria 's family. (just imagine their love) . Before she passed away she always told her friends. 'If I pass away please burn me with my cellphone' she also said the same thing to her
parents.

After her death, people couldnt carry her body,
A lot of them tried to do so but still couldn' t.Everybody had tried to carry the body, the result was still the same. They jus could not lift the body. Eventually, they called a person who knew one of their neighbours, who could speak with the soul of dead person, who is a friend of her father.

He took a stick and started speaking to himself slowly.

After a few minutes, he said 'this girl misses something here.' Then her
friends told that person about her intentions to burn her with her phone.
He then opened the grave box and place her phone and sim card inside the
casket. After that they tried to carry the body. It could be moved and
they carried it into the van easily.

All of us were shocked. gloria 's parents did not inform jonathan that
gloria had passed away.

After 2 weeks jonathan called gloria 's mom.....

jonathan :....'Aunty, I'm coming home today. Cook something nice for me.
Don't tell gloria that I'm coming home today, I wanna surprise her.'
Her mother replied..... 'You come home first, I wanna tell you
something very important.'

After he came, they told him the truth about gloria.
jonathan though that they were playing the fool. He was laughing and
said 'don't try to fool me - tell gloria to come out, i have a gift for
her. Please stop
this nonsense'.

Then they show him the original death certificate to him.
They gave him proof to make him believe. (jonathan started to sweat) He
said... 'Its not true. We spoke yesterday. She still calls me.
jonathan was shaking..

Suddenly, jonathan 's phone rang. 'see this is from gloria, see this.....'
he showed the phone to gloria 's family. all of them told him to
answer. he talked using the loudspeaker mode.

All of them heard his conversation.

Loud and clear, no cross lines, no humming.

It is the actual voice of gloria & there is no way others could use her
sim card since it is nailed inside the grave box. They were so shocked and asked
for the same person's (who can speak with the soul of deal persons) help
again. He brought his master to solve this matter.

He & his master worked for 5 hours.

Then they discovered one thing which really shocked
them...

Philippine Ghost Story

Hi my name is Jen and I live at manila Philippines. I'm now 22 years old living with my boyfriend. Anyway, this is a real story that actually happened to me when I was staying in our house at the province. This experience happened to me when I was 12 years old right after my grandfather died.
My grandfather died of a heart attack and the whole family was in shock. Well, as for me I was only 12 and I didn't actually have a close bond with my grand dad back when he was alive so I never actually paid too much attention to his death. Well, before his funeral we offered a mass and a small gathering to pay our respects. We celebrated it in a small chapel with his casket opened in the front of the chapel. Each one of the family members would come up to the casket to see my grandfather for the last time and say their goodbyes.
Everyone had come to the casket so it was my turn (Filipino children are not actually scared of dead bodies). I had this habit of knocking into every wooden surfaces that had touched my hands. Anyway, while I was looking at my grand dad while I was up at the casket I was knocking at it with a beat like 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3.
Then after like 3 minutes my aunt had noticed what I was doing. So she shouted at me and pinched me and told me this old Filipino superstition that when you knock at the casket of a dead body he will come at your doorstep and knock at your door. Well, I never actually paid too much attention to what my aunt had said and continued playing.
When we got back to our house with one of my cousins and my parents it was already around 10 PM. My parents had go to sleep early because they were so tired. So my cousin and I decided to watch TV. And that's when things started to happen.
At first we were hearing loud sounds coming from outside, but we didn't pay much attention to it so we just continued watching. Then I got really scared when the lights and TV went on and off. And freaky thing is that it had a pattern, like my knock 1-2-3,1-2-3.
For about three minutes this continued and I felt really scared and so did my cousin. And the scariest was after the flickering stopped someone knocked on our door with the sound exactly as what my knocks at the casket sound... 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3. Though I was really scared I got the courage to stand up and look out the window to see who it was.
With my cousin next to me we slowly went to the window and checked. Then what I saw was something I will never forget. It was an old man wearing a black suit. His back was turned so I didn't actually see his face, but I knew this wasn't my grand father. So I was scared and when I pushed my face at the window the man vanished right in front of me.
My cousin and I cried and ran to my parents room and told them what happened. Well, they didn't believe us and just told us to go to sleep. After that night I prayed and asked that whoever that guy was I hope he would leave me alone. Could it be possible that other spirits heard me knocking back at the burial?

Sulat ni Tatay at Nanay Sa Atin

Mahal kong anak,

,Maghapon kang mangungulit hangga't
Hindi mo nakukuha ang gusto mo.
Pinagtyagaan ko ang kakulitan mo.

Pagpasensyahan mo na rin sana ang aking amoy.
 Amoy matanda, amoy lupa.
Huwag mo sana akong piliting maligo.
Mahina na ang katawan ko.
Madaling magkasakit kapag nalamigan,
Huwag mo sana akong pandirihan.

Natatandaan mo noong bata ka pa?
Pinagtyagaan kitang habulin
Sa ilalim ng kama kapag ayaw mong maligo.
Pagpasensyahan mo sana kung madalas, ako'y masungit,
Dala na marahil ito ng katandaan.
Pagtanda mo,maiintindihan mo rin.

Kapag may konti kang panahon,
magkwentuhan naman tayo,
kahit sandali lang.
Inip na ako sa bahay, maghapong nag-iisa.
Walang kausap.

Alam kong busy ka sa trabaho,
subalit nais kong malaman mo na sabik na sabik
Na akong makakwentuhan ka,
kahit alam kong hindi ka interesado sa mga kwento ko.

Natatandaan mo anak, noong bata ka pa?
Pinagtyagaan kong pakinggan at intindihinang

Ways to handle Jealousy

Jealousy is a natural emotion but it can destroy relationships if allowed to get out of control. If jealousy is starting to threaten your relationship or causing you to doubt yourself, you need to get it under control. Follow these steps and you can learn to handle jealousy.
  1. Locate the source of your jealousy. Before you get started trying to swallow your jealousy, it helps to determine what is making you jealous. Are you concerned your spouse is seeing someone else? Or have you been fighting with your best friend over clothes or shoes you both want to buy? Jealousy includes emotions of fear and insecurity, so you must find the source.
  2. Have an honest chat with your emotions. Sometimes you have to talk to yourself before you can start talking to anyone else. If you are jealous of a coworker or sibling, then the problem is you. So you are the only one who can solve it. Let yourself feel whatever emotions you have. When you are alone, let the jealousy rage full force so you can ask yourself what is really motivating your feelings. If jealousy is surrounding your relationship with a boyfriend or girlfriend, then ask yourself if this is because they have been unfaithful or you have. Be honest so you can get to the root of your jealousy.
  3. Avoid tempting situations. If jealousy is inspired by the fear of infidelity, then avoid the situations where you or your partner might be tempted. Avoid the bars, parties with too much alcohol or whatever situation most inspires your fear. This does not mean you can keep your guy or gal from ever being around other people. There comes a time when you have to have trust in any relationship. Still, you can reduce temptation when possible. This works with your best friend while shoe shopping, too. If you cannot stop fighting over items you both love, then stop shopping together in pressure situations.
  4. Talk with your partner about your trust issues. When it comes to jealous relationships, you will eventually need to speak with your partner. Regardless of why you have problems with trust, you need to be honest about your fears when speaking to your partner. Try to make this a calm, rational conversation. If you start making accusations of infidelity or you start with yelling, then you have lost your audience and cannot resolve your jealousy.
  5. Let it go. If you let jealousy consume you, it will destroy your relationships - with lovers, friends and coworkers. Sometimes you have to let it go. Decide within yourself that you will give up the emotions and trust your partner or let your friend have the shoes. Whatever you do, you either bury the feelings or let them go. You cannot let them control your life and relationships.

Seven Common Dreams and What They Mean

Dreams come to us in our most private moments: wrapped up in sheets, our public faces stored away for the night. The visions we see in sleep are supposed to be expressions of our individual psyches and imaginations, but most people’s dreams are based on themes that are very common. I thought my recurring dream of losing my teeth was scary and freakish until I went online to find thousands of others having the same dream, all trying to find out what the heck it could mean. Just because our dreams are shared, though, doesn’t mean they aren’t unique; the way we experience these common elements in dreaming life is what’s significant.

1. Being chased.
Candice Janco, author of the Bedside Dream Dictionary: 500 Dream Symbols and Their Meanings, describes this dream (the most common) as an indication of a felt threat in your waking life. This threat can take the form of a menacing person or a strong emotion with which you are having difficulty coping. Try to determine who or what is chasing you, where the dream takes place, and what your feelings are during the chase to understand what this dreams means to you.
2. Missing an important event because you are late.
This can indicate regret over a missed opportunity, inability to make a connection, or desire to pull oneself together. In Dream Power: How to Use Your Night Dreams to Change Your Life, Cynthia Richmond suggests asking questions of dreams in order to understand what this common symbol means to you. For example: What are you missing? Who is disappointed by the missed event? Is it only you or are there others involved?
3. Finding yourself at work or school naked.
Not surprisingly, Freud interpreted dreams about being naked as repressed sexual wishes. But the most important part of this dream is the feelings that are involved. You suddenly find yourself exposed, vulnerable, and awkward. What area of your life corresponds to that feeling? Figure this out by noting where you are, who notices you, what part of you is exposed, how people react to you, and how you yourself react to the situation.
4. Falling.
Falling indicates feelings of insecurity and lack of support. What situation have you “fallen into?” Who has “let you down?” Perhaps not surprisingly, this particular dream is most common among professional men and women. The Illustrated Dream Dictionary authors Russell Grant and Vicky Emptage note the close relationship between “falling” and “failing.” They also note that the dream’s meaning is probably not so clear-cut. Grant and Emptage ascribe dreams of falling to feelings of isolation, the sense of being without the support and affection that success cannot provide.
5. Flying.
Interestingly, Grant and Emptage interpret flying dreams as boasting about sexual powers. The important part of the dream is how you are flying; since the flying itself represents your ambitions, are you flying successfully, or trying and failing to fly as high as possible? From there, they make the leap to feelings of sexual inadequacy, but such feelings of low self-esteem could cover inadequacy of any kind, not just sexual.
6. Losing your teeth.
This theme has a number of potential meanings because of the very different significances teeth have to different people. Our teeth are representative of our appearance because our smiles are one of the first things people notice about us. Therefore, dreaming about losing your teeth can indicate insecurity about your appearance, or even fears of sexual impotence, as teeth are often used to flirt with a desired partner. We also use our teeth to bite, chew, and tear, so losing them can mean a loss of power or fear of getting old. Interestingly, this dream is most common among menopausal women, perhaps for all of the above reasons
7. Snakes.
Snakes have been a fear in dreams for quite some time. The ancient Egyptians used to make snakes out of clay and place them at the doors of their homes to frighten away nightmares, believing that snakes were bringers of bad dreams and that the clay snake would keep real ones away. Dreammoods, an online encyclopedia of dream meanings, reports that snakes signify some hidden threat. This makes sense, as most of us fear the “snake in the grass.” Like most other symbols, though, this one has many meanings that depend on context. Snakes shed their skin, so they may signify renewal and transformation. This may be a frightening experience, as most people are uncomfortable with change, or it may be very positive.

Harmful Effects of Smoking

The harmful health effects of smoking cigarettes presented in the list below only begin to convey the long term side effects of smoking. Quitting makes sense for many reasons but simply put: smoking is bad for health.

Effects of Smoking

  • Every year hundreds of thousands of people around the world die from diseases caused by smoking cigarettes - Smoking KILLS.
  • One in two lifetime smokers will die from their habit. Half of these deaths will occur in middle age.
  • Tobacco smoke also contributes to a number of cancers.
  • The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and blood vessels.
  • This can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs
    amputated
    .
  • Tar coats your lungs like soot in a chimney and causes cancer. A 20-a-day smoker breathes in up to a full cup (210 g) of tar in a year.
  • Changing to low-tar cigarettes does not help because smokers usually take deeper puffs and hold the smoke in for longer, dragging the tar deeper into their lungs.
  • Carbon monoxide robs your muscles, brain and body tissue of oxygen, making your whole body and especially your heart work harder. Over time, your airways swell up and let less air into your lungs.
  • Smoking causes disease and is a slow way to die. The strain of smoking effects on the body often causes years of suffering. Emphysema is an illness that slowly rots your lungs. People with emphysema often get bronchitis again and again, and suffer lung and heart failure.
  • Lung cancer from smoking is caused by the tar in tobacco smoke. Men who smoke are ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than non-smokers.
  • Heart disease and strokes are also more common among smokers than non-smokers.
  • Smoking causes fat deposits to narrow and block blood vessels which leads to heart attack.
  • Smoking causes around one in five deaths from heart disease.
  • In younger people, three out of four deaths from heart disease are due to smoking.
  • Cigarette smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of low birth weight, prematurity, spontaneous abortion, and perinatal mortality in humans, which has been referred to as the fetal tobacco syndrome.
As mentioned earlier, this list can only begin to convey the harmful health effects of smoking cigarettes and its long term side effects. Next we consider reasons why smoking is bad for those around you in the effects of second hand smoke.

12 hrs hostage drama

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A 12-hour hostage stand-off on a hijacked Philippine bus ended in bloodshed Monday, with officials saying at least seven Chinese tourists were dead along with the disgruntled ex-policeman who seized their vehicle in a bid to get his job back.
At least six captives survived, four of whom were seen crawling out the back door of the bus after Philippine police stormed it Monday evening when the hostage-taker started shooting at the 15 Chinese tourists inside, said police Senior Superintendent Nelson Yabut.
He said the hostage-taker was killed with a sniper shot to the head after he wounded a police sharpshooter.
Police and ambulances were lined up next to the vehicle in the pouring rain after the standoff ended. Local hospitals reported seven bodies of hostages were brought in. One other hostage was hospitalized in critical condition, and five others were unharmed.
Officials have yet to disclose the fate of the two other hostages.
The crisis began when the dismissed policeman, Rolando Mendoza, 55, armed with a M16 rifle seized the busload of Hong Kong tourists to demand his reinstatement in the force.
According to newspaper reports from 2008, he was among five officers who had been charged with robbery, extortion and grave threats after a Manila hotel chef filed a complaint alleging the policemen falsely accused him of using drugs to extort money.
The gunman released nine hostages during the afternoon — leaving 15 inside — and demanded his job back to free the rest. Despite hopes that negotiations might bring the stand-off to a peaceful conclusion, tensions escalated as night closed in.
Police said they stormed the bus after they saw Mendoza open fire on hostages.
Moments before the commandos moved in, the Filipino driver fled. Police officer Roderick Mariano cited him as saying Mendoza had opened fire at the tourists.

by JIM GOMEZ

Who was Rolando Mendoza?

Senior inspector Rolando Del Rosario Mendoza was a decorated police officer. He was born on January 10, 1955 in Naic, Cavite. He has two sons, one of them an Inspector of the Bangued police in Abra, and one daughter. He graduated from the Philippine College of Criminology with a degree in BS Criminology. He entered the service in April 1981 as one of the defunct Integrated National Police’s (IMP) patrolman. In 1993, he became a Senior Police Officer 3 under the Philippine National Police (PNP) with the Western Police District (now known as Manila Police District (MPD)). In 2002, he was promoted to Inspector and then to Senior Inspector in 2005. The Jaycees international awarded Mendoza its Ten Outstanding policemen of the Philippines (TOPP) in 1986. He garnered 17 awards and commendations as multiple citations from the PNP. Among them are: PNP Medal of Commendation, the PNP Badge of Honor, PNP Efficiency Medal, PNP Merit Medal and the PNP Service Medal. Things started to go south for Mendoza when administrative charges were filed against him and three other officers and then dismissed for extortion and for forcing a chef to swallow Shabu. They were found guilty by the Ombudsman of grave misconduct for allegedly extorting Php 20,000.00 from Christian Kalaw, a chef at the mandarin Hotel. From the original police Report, “On April 9, 2008, Kalaw parked his car along Vito Cruz and was accosted by the policemen. They accused Kalaw of being a drug user and tried to extort Php 3,000.00 from him. The records also said Kalaw was forced by the policemen to swallow a sachet full of Shabu while they were trying to extort Php 20,000.00 from the chef at the headquarters of the Mobile Patrol Unit of the Manila Police District.” On October 17, 2008, the PNP Internal Affairs Service recommended the case be dismissed after Kalaw failed to appear in the proceedings. In August of the same year, the manila prosecutors Office Eight Division dismissed the case after Kalaw failed to appear during the preliminary proceedings. Mendoza was reassigned to the provincial office of the Autonomous region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) in June 2008. But the reassignment never happened due to his 90-day suspension. Then on the early mornings of August 23, 2010, Mendoza hijacked a tourist bus full of Chinese nationals and Filipinos. He made the bus park in front of the Quirino Grandstand and had a standoff with police which took almost 13 hours. The ending was bloody with seven of the hostages dead as well as Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza

Daddy, It Hurts!

This is A TRUE STORY AND IF YOU DON'T PASS THIS ON YOU DON'T
HAVE A SOUL!!!

My name is Chris ,
I am three,
My eyes are swollen..
I cannot see.

I must be stupid,
I must be bad,
What else could have made,
My daddy so mad?

I wish I were better,
I wish I weren't ugly,
Then maybe my mommy,
Would still want to hug me.

I can't do a wrong,
I can't speak at all,
Or else I'm locked up,
All day long.

When I'm awake,
I'm all alone,
The house is dark,
My folks aren't home.

When my mommy does come home,
I'll try and be nice,
So maybe I'll just get,
One whipping tonight.

I just heard a car,
My daddy is back,
From Charlie's bar

I hear him curse,
My name is called ,
I press myself,
Against the wall.

I try to hide,
>From his evil eyes,
I'm so afraid now,
I'm starting to cry.

He finds me weeping,
Calls me ugly words,
He says its my fault,
He suffers at work.

He slaps and hits me,
And yells at me more,
I finally get free,
And run to the door.

He's already locked it,
And I start to bawl,
He takes me and throws me,
Against the hard wall.

I fall to the floor,
With my bones nearly broken,
And my daddy continues,
With more bad words spoken.

'I'm sorry!', I scream,
But it's now much to late,
His face has been twisted,
Into a unimaginable sh ape.

The hurt and the pain,
Again and again,
O please God, have mercy!
O please let it end!

And he finally stops,
And heads for the door,
While I lay there motionless,
Sprawled on the floor.

My name is Chris ,
I am three,
Tonight my daddy,
Murdered me.

And you can help,
Sickens me to the soul,
If you read this,
And don't pass it on.

I pray for your forgiveness,
You would have to be,
One heartless person,
Not to be affected,
By this Poem.

And because you ARE affected,
Do something about it!
So all I ask you to do,
Is pass this on!

IF YOU ARE AGAINST CHILD ABUSE!
Post this as 'Daddy ... It hurts'

If you do not send this to everyone you know
Then you obviously don't care about child abuse.

At first I thought this was just a chain letter
And I wasn't going to send it either,
But now I realize that this is an important situation.

At least 5 children each day from around the world die from child abuse!!!!

This happens across the board, no matter how much money they have or their ethnicity.
Please help...

ATTITUDE

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, then circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say, or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.

How to Get Over an Ex When You're Still InLOVE

First, put yourself in the opposite position: If YOU didn’t want to be with someone, and let him or her know it, what would you expect the other person to do? Hopefully let go, and move on with dignity.

The biggest “cure all” every time you miss them, or are thinking about them with sadness, is to VIVIDLY remember the times they treated you like DIRT, and ask yourself: “Is THAT what I REALLY WANT?” When the answer is NO – then keep that in your mind. It will replace the old pattern of putting them on a pedestal when they treated you far less than the way you deserved. It will also help you to replace the pain with the truth of the situation.

Every time thoughts about them suddenly come into your mind, do the above, AND re-direct your focus on to something that is positive and life enhancing for YOU, or others that you love. You have the power to consciously re-direct your thoughts and FOCUS. Do that every time the blues start to creep in to your consciousness.

Really TRUST that everything DOES work out for the best in the long run, and if you can remember a time when you were sad about something, only to be grateful for the growth you’ve made, and how the situation worked out for your highest and best after all, this will help you realize that this situation is no different.

View the other person with compassion, rather than with bitterness. Realize that they did the best they were capable of, and if their best was not in your best interest, then it is a gift that they are out of your life!

Get deeply and passionately absorbed in your life purpose! THIS is the most powerful thing you can do! Why waste your energy, focus, and attention on a PAST situation, when you can really be making significant and positive difference in your life, as well as in the lives of others!

Every time you start to think about them, and begin to play your drama of the past in your mind, consciously CHOOSE to focus on the NOW, and all of the great things you can be doing. Focus on being and expressing your highest and best self. Remember that you don’t NEED them at all. YOU are the gift. They may be a gift as well, however, if they are out of your life, your life MUST carry on in the most vibrant, positive and life-renewing manner possible. This is ALL within your conscious choice and control.

Really thank them (in your mind) for every lesson you have learned, every new discovery you have made, and the difference they DID make in your life. Realize that THAT was their purpose for entering your life. So now you can release them with a lot of gratitude, loving compassion, dignity, and grace.

Someone that I personally know that is going through the throws of emotional agony in trying to let go of a relationship that just ended said: "We need to know WHY We SHOULD Let THEM GO TO BEGIN WITH!”

The Answer is so that YOU can be FREE FROM PAIN, and misery! So that you can attract someone into your life that will treat you incredibly well, and because you DESERVE to be happy in a real relationship!

Why should you hold out for crumbs from someone similar to a dog waiting on the doormat for a couple of crumbs of attention? Don’t you really deserve to have a fantastic relationship? YES! You do! Everyone does. If you are in pain the majority of the time, then you deserve to free yourself, so that you can live with inner peace, and grow with enough self-love to attract your true counterpart.

You can only attract according to what you believe you deserve, and I swear to you that you WILL attract someone that is far healthier for you once you really learn how to love and appreciate yourself.

Don’t you want to be treated in the best manner possible? So if you are in pain most of the time, that pain is saying: “Hey, get me out of this, because IT HURTS!” And the only way to remove yourself from the source of emotional agony in your life is to make a COMPLETE break.

It’s like keeping your hand halfway in boiling water! If you take your hand out completely, and heal it, then you will be free from pain.

If you choose to keep dipping your fingers into boiling water, this is the same as continuing to return to a painful relationship. One is physical pain, and the other is emotional.

There is no judgment at all. So please do NOT judge yourself for allowing yourself to be treated far less than you deserve. The only thing that matters is what you do from THIS moment forward. Love yourself – a LOT!

The only one you will EVER need is YOU. The only one that will NEVER leave you is YOU. So place ALL of your energy on being and expressing all you came into this life for. It is NOT about them – it is all about you and your growth. That is the most important thing. Now you have learned more, and realized more. You have evolved more as a result of all you have been through. As you come to fully awaken to all of your grand possibilities, you really won’t have the time, or the care to focus your attention on a past situation. It is like focusing on anything else that is in the past. NOW is your time to re-claim yourself, and shine as the beacon that you are. You will feel so much better once you take all of the above steps – as long as you really apply them.

A Story of a True Love

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the apple of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for work so he asked the wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. The mother, preoccupied in the kitchen, totally forgot the matter.
The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle and, fascinated with its color, drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed, the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband.
When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just four words.
What do you think were the four words?
The husband just said "I Love You Darling"
The husband's totally unexpected reaction is proactive behavior. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he have taken time to keep the bottle away, this will not have happened. No point in attaching blame. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband. That is what he gave her.

Sometimes we spend time asking who is responsible or who to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we know. We miss out some warmth in human relationship in giving each other support. After all, shouldn't forgiving someone we love be the easiest thing in the world to do? Treasure what you have. Don't multiply pain, anguish and suffering by holding on to forgiveness.
If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world.
Take off all your envies, jealousies, unwillingness to forgive, selfishness, and fears and you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.

This Is Me

My friends and family call me "Aira " and I'm also comfortable with that name. I'm shy type of person but once you got a chance to get along with me you will know what I'm talking about. Start up the conversation and I'll be the one to continue, whether with or without sense, no problem, i can ride on it. My friends always say that I'm bubbly and naughty but in a nice way.

I really love my family even though I'm from broken family, I don't mind it, I just always think that everything happens for a certain reason. I know that I'm very lucky to have them in my life.
I love my friends as they know all about me, and still they likes me.
I also love my boyfriend, and I wanna grow old with him. Sometimes, he keep on saying that I'm too immature, and I believed in that cause I can't control my emotions and handle some tough situations right.
I love music and songs that are reflected to my feelings.
I love blue and pink.
I love HELLO KITTY!!
And the important is I LOVE THE WAY I AM :)
and lastly, I love GOD because without Him we are NOTHING..

I hate insects.
I hate FAKE people.
I hate LEAVING and GOODBYES. I just don't like the feeling of being alone and lonely.

I know that we need to be strong enough to face the problems that we encounter, never surrender, always trust with GOD because He will never let us down. LIFE is full of beauty, so live your life to the fullest and never waste a minute of your precious life by squandering it thinking about the people you don't like
